The constraint
This Northern Beaches mid-century home already had so much to say: exposed timber beams, beautiful brickwork and that striking fireplace. Instead of overworking it, we plan to honour the architecture and let those original features lead.
The approach
Our approach here was intentionally minimal. We plan to refresh the existing woodwork to bring back its warmth, update the flooring and paint palette to feel lighter and more current, and install floor-to-ceiling sheers to soften the space and enhance the natural light. Everything else is styling. Contemporary pieces that nod to the mid-century era through form, texture and tone: curved silhouettes, warm timbers, layered textiles and earthy greens.
